Wastewater Treatment Plant
The City of Hobbs Wastewater Reclamation Facility provides uninterrupted wastewater treatment for the community of Hobbs, including liquid wastes transported to the facility. Currently receiving and reclaiming about 3.6 million gallons of wastewater a day, the Hobbs WWRF meets State of New Mexico regulatory requirements for effluent reuse, allows for future increases in flows/loadings, and provides long-term community benefits by utilizing biofiltration to treat all offensive odors within the facility. The Hobbs WWRF is located at 1300 S. 5th St. and is classified as an activated sludge, biological nutrient removal (BNR) facility employing the Modified Ludzak Ettinger (MLE) process. If you would like to tour the facility, or receive more information in its operation, please call us at 575-397-9315.
Effluent Reuse
The City of Hobbs obtains its potable water from groundwater wells located throughout the City and the outlying area. As is the case throughout the region, groundwater stores in the Ogallala Aquifer continue to be exhausted without significant recharge. In order to conserve this limited supply of water, the City continues to move forward to expand its Effluent Reuse Program.
This program targets those users that are immediately prepared to receive effluent water for irrigation, construction and commercial purposes. Ultimately, the City's goal is to construct a complete distribution network that would make reclaimed water available throughout its service area.
