Mission Statement

It is the mission of Hobbs Express to deliver safe, dependable and affordable transportation services in a courteous and professional manner.

New Hobbs Express Saturday Route

Effective March 10, 2018, Hobbs Express will be offering a new Saturday Route Service. In an effort to smart size our operations and be more efficient with our resources, the new Saturday Route will be the only route service available on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the Red, Blue, and Green Routes will not be operating on Saturday. The new Saturday Route was designed in an effort to reach the most frequented locations in town to best assist customers fulfilling their weekend duties. We hope each customer finds benefit in it.

As always, veterans ride free and the public curb-to-curb demand response service is available upon request with 24 hours' notice. If you have any questions or need assistance in planning your trip, please call us at 575-397-9290. Thank you for using our service!

Description of Transit Program

Currently the Hobbs Express provides two types of service, general public demand response transportation service; and fixed route service. All Hobbs Express vehicles are ADA accessible including wheelchair lifts and tie-downs. This vital program for the citizens of Hobbs is provided six days per week within the five mile addressing area for the City of Hobbs.

The general public demand response, curb-to-curb transportation service and the fixed routes are available to all members of the Hobbs community on a first-come, first-served basis to employment, medical care, shopping, and education and recreation facilities. Passengers are encouraged to make reservations the day before up to 14 days in advance to secure the time they require. No same day service is available.

The Hobbs Express serves any location within the city limits of Hobbs and within the five mile addressing area. Included in this service area are the Lea County Airport, New Mexico Junior College, Lea Regional Hospital, University of the Southwest, and the Texas/New Mexico State Line.

Hobbs Express observes all state holidays.

Veterans Ride Free!

Beginning on November 8th, 2016, Veterans can now ride free on all Hobbs Express bus routes as well as the demand response-paratransit bus service. Upon boarding any of the fare-based routes, Veterans must present a Veterans ID photo badge or valid New Mexico driver's license with a Veteran's designation, and their fare will be waived.

"Veterans have made a great sacrifice to all of us and we want to thank them for their service to our country and to the people of the United States," stated Jan Fletcher, Hobbs Express Public Transportation Director. "We are proud to offer this benefit."

Hobbs Express joins other agencies such as the NCRTD, Rio Metro RTD, operator of the NM Rail Runner Express, and the City of Santa Fe's Santa Fe Trails bus transit system in offering this show of gratitude to our nation's Vets.

Hobbs Express provides fixed-route bus service on three routes that run daily each hour throughout the community at designated bus stops. Riders can transfer to another route at various bus stop locations. Hours of operation are Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Through the demand response program, riders may schedule a pickup from any specific location within city limits and receive curb-to-curb transportation service - We would just like to remind veterans and riders that there is a 24-hour notice requirement for this service!

Hobbs City Manager J.J. Murphy stated, "I am moved by Hobbs Express Staff's initiative to provide this complimentary service to the ones in our community who have sacrificed so much. As a veteran myself, I recognize the impact this offer will have on our residents and was quick to approve the program when the (Hobbs Express) Staff presented it. I hope the veterans of our community recognize this as a symbol of our gratitude for their service."

For more information or to schedule a pickup, call Hobbs Express at (575)397-9290.
